OUR STORY

Inspired by the Japanese concept of “Ikigai”, which translates to “reason for being” or “a reason to wake up in the morning.” It encompasses the idea of finding purpose, joy, and fulfillment in life. While the concept of ikigai is often associated with personal fulfillment in adulthood, it can also be applied to early learning and childcare philosophy. It emphasizes staying active, living in the moment, reconnecting with nature, taking it slow, give thanks and smile and surround yourself with what you love! Overall, incorporating the ikigai philosophy in our early learning and childcare program prioritizes the happiness, growth, and well-being of young children. The Seed Daycare creates a nurturing environment where children can thrive, discover their passions, and develop a lifelong love for learning.

Our Vision

‘Finding my purpose with Joy’. Joy is not just a fleeting emotion; it is a guiding principle. We create an atmosphere where children feel genuinely happy, cared for, and respected. When children experience joy, they are more open to learning, exploration, and developing a sense of wonder about the world around them.

Philosophy

  • Discovering and nurturing passions: We emphasize the importance of identifying and nurturing children's passions and interests. Educators can observe and engage with children to understand their preferences, talents, and areas of curiosity. By providing opportunities to explore and develop their passions, children become more engaged in their learning process and develop a sense of purpose.
  • Fostering a sense of purpose: The Seed Daycare aims to guide children in finding a sense of purpose and meaning in life. Educators help children understand the value of their actions and contributions. By involving children in meaningful activities and encouraging them to take responsibility for their tasks, they develop a sense of purpose and understand the impact they can have on their surroundings.
  • Cultivating a play-based learning environment: Play is a fundamental aspect of childhood and a powerful medium for learning. Through applying our program philosophy we encourage the creation of a play-based learning environment where children can freely explore, experiment, and learn through play through lots of open-ended activities. Such an environment allows children to become independent learners, follow their passions, make choices, and engage in activities that align with their interests.
  • Balancing challenges and abilities: One of the principles of Ikigai we have incorporated into our program emphasizes the intersection between what we love, what we are good at, what the world needs, and what we can be recognized for. In the context of children's development and learning, educators create activities and experiences that balance challenges with children's abilities. By providing appropriately challenging tasks, children are motivated to push their boundaries, develop new skills, and experience a sense of accomplishment.
  • Encouraging holistic development: Our program is centered around creating a holistic approach to life, recognizing that well-rounded development is essential. Similarly, in supporting children's growth, educators should consider their physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development. By incorporating a variety of activities and experiences that address different aspects of development, children can thrive in a well-rounded and balanced manner.
  • Promoting joy and well-being: Educators create an atmosphere that fosters joy and well-being by ensuring that children's needs for play, exploration, creativity, and social interaction are met. Celebrating achievements, encouraging positive relationships, and creating a positive and supportive learning environment contribute to children's overall happiness and well-being.
